10 years led to this

For over ten years, hackajob was a hiring marketplace. This month that changes. We're building the whole company around Archer, our AI agent for both sides of hiring.

Archer launched about a year ago as one product among several. It grew fast, companies adopted it quickly, and it turned out to be the clearest answer we've built to a problem we'd watched get worse for a decade. So Archer is what we lead with now, and hackajob is built around it rather than the other way around.

What is Archer?

Archer is hackajob's AI agent for both sides of hiring. One agent, two jobs.

For hiring teams, Archer is an AI sourcing agent for passive, in-demand talent. A recruiter calibrates it on what a great hire looks like, in plain English. Archer then works across every open role, finding, engaging and qualifying the right people, including the ones who aren't actively applying, and delivering them into the ATS the team already uses as ID-verified candidates. Your recruiters own the definition of quality. Archer executes the reach. Every hiring decision stays with the recruiter.

For candidates, Archer is your advocate in the job market. You build one profile, and Archer finds the roles you actually fit, explains why you're a match, and puts you in front of the right people. It works across every skilled profession, from Java Developers to Finance Managers to Legal Counsel, and it's free.

First-party data, on both sides

hackajob works on first-party data, the information people and companies give us directly. For a candidate, that means Archer matches you on what you actually tell it, your full career, the context behind it, and what you want from your next role, rather than the keywords on a CV. For an employer, ten years of that data across the market means Archer can also show you why the candidates you want are saying no. When a strong candidate turns down an interview or application, that's a signal, and over time it points to what's putting the right people off, whether that's pay, location, or how the brand lands.

The growth backed the decision to lead with it. We've tripled ARR in the last six months, and more than 600,000 people have signed up to work with Archer in a year.

"Ten years as a marketplace, and this month that changes. Archer is what we lead with now, and we're building the whole company around it. Biggest bet we've made since we started, and I've never been more sure of one." - Mark Chaffey, CEO, hackajob

Why more applications made hiring worse

Hiring broke on both sides at once, and the last couple of years pushed it over the edge.

Candidates fire off hundreds of applications and hear nothing back. It wears people down until they start to wonder if the problem is them. On the other side, recruiters open a role and get hundreds of applications in a week, a growing share of them written by AI or sent by people who don't fit or don't exist. They spend more of the week working out who's real than talking to anyone.

The common fix has been to bolt AI onto that pile and rank it. That fixes the wrong end. Ranking a broken pool of applicants doesn't turn it into the right pool. The pipeline was the problem.

Archer goes at both ends instead. Hiring teams get fewer, more relevant, real candidates. Candidates get a real shot at roles they fit, based on their whole career rather than a keyword match. It's the case we make in our manifesto, that hiring starts working again when both sides are properly represented.

What Archer changes for hiring teams

Teams interview Archer's candidates at 5x their usual rate, and more than half are people who've never been in their systems before.

There's nothing to integrate and nothing new for a recruiter to log into: a read-only job feed goes in, qualified candidates come out through the ATS you already use, and no automated decision happens on our side, which is what gets Archer through procurement and AI review. It works across every discipline, and more than 30% of the roles it supports now sit outside tech.

Companies like Oracle, Barclays, Comcast and Sainsbury's already hire this way.

What Archer changes if you're job hunting

Archer is built to take you out of the numbers game. You build one profile instead of retailoring a CV for every application, and Archer shows you the roles you genuinely fit and explains why, so your energy goes into a handful worth applying to. People introduced through Archer are 5x more likely to reach an interview than through a job board or careers site.

Your profile stays private until you choose to apply, and it's free, always.
