Colt provides network, voice and data centre services to thousands of businesses around the world, allowing them to focus on delivering their business goals instead of the underlying infrastructure.

Why we need this role

As we align our organisation to our ambitious new strategy, helping employees understand what’s happening and why it matters has never been more important.

That’s why we’re creating a more focused business partnering model within the Internal Communications team to strengthen how we support the business and ensure our communications are truly driving understanding, engagement and action.

This is a senior role leading that approach and goes beyond delivering communications. You’ll oversee how we partner with all functions through a small team, while personally acting as the business partner for our People & Culture function and other corporate functions (to be confirmed).

You will shape how strategy is translated into a clear, compelling employee narrative, partnering leaders early to influence how change is framed and delivered.

You will define and embed a consistent approach to change communications across the organisation, ensuring we deliver complex transformation in a structured, engaging and human way.

Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, this role sits at the heart of how we connect functional leadership, strategy and employees through clear, effective and engaging communication.

What you will do

You’ll lead our internal communications business partnering team, setting the direction for how internal communications supports the business functions.

Together, you and your team will partner with business functions across the organisation. You’ll personally act as the business partner for our People & Culture function, as well as some level (to be confirmed) of our other corporate functions. Your team supports other functions including commercial, operations and technology.

Your focus is to make this model work, bringing consistency to how we partner, new ideas to raise the bar, and ensuring communications are aligned to business priorities.

A key focus is also to strengthen how we approach change communications, making sure we apply clear principles and deliver change in a structured, effective way.

  • Ensure consistent, high-quality communications support across all business functions
  • Set clear ways of working for business partnering across the team
  • Shape change communications practices and coach others
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders within P&C, certain other corporate functions and beyond
  • Bring clarity and judgment to fast-moving or ambiguous situations
  • Lead and support a team of three internal communications specialists
  • Ensure communications are written in our tone of voice, are inclusive, empathetic, and accessible.
  • Work closely with the wider Internal Communications team, external communications and Corporate Functions leadership
  • Measure the effectiveness of communications and continuously refine approach based on insight and feedback

What we're looking for

  • You’re an experienced senior internal communications professional who knows how to operate efficiently in a large global, matrixed organisation and is motivated by the opportunity to have real impact.
  • You build credibility quickly with C-suite leaders, forming strong, trusted relationships, and provide clear, confident counsel.
  • You bring strong influencing skills, across functions and levels, without reliance on formal authority
  • You can navigate competing priorities, and know how to get things done, bringing the right people together, cutting through ambiguity, and maintaining momentum.
  • You bring strong experience in change communications practices and know how to apply them in a practical, structured way, and coach others to do the same.
  • You move easily between big-picture priorities and day-to-day execution.
  • You have high cultural awareness and experience adapting communications for diverse global audiences
  • You have previous people management experience and enjoy helping others deliver at their best
  • You’re a top-notch communicator with a meticulous eye for detail.
  • You’re organised, pragmatic, and solutions-focused, with the judgment to prioritise what matters and the resilience to operate in a fast-moving environment.
  • You’re someone people trust because you’re credible, reliable, and you get things done.
