Functional QA Analyst (French Speaker)

We’re looking for a Senior Functional QA Analyst to join our French Accounting squad and ensure the delivery of high-quality desktop software to the French market. You’ll be the primary QA voice within a cross-functional team, taking full ownership of the test cycle across a product used daily by thousands of French businesses.

Fluency in French is essential - you’ll need to understand both the product under test and the real-world accounting workflows of our French customers. A background in accounting or financial management software is a strong differentiator for this role.

This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in our Barcelona office.

Your First 90 Days

30 days – Get to grips with the French accounting product, our testing processes, tools, and team ways of working. Shadow colleagues, review existing test artefacts, and begin contributing to manual test execution.

60 days – Take ownership of writing and executing test cases for your squad. Build strong relationships with developers, the product owner, and business analysts. Start identifying scenarios suitable for test automation.

90 days – Lead test strategy and planning within your squad. Produce clear test metrics and reporting, contribute to automation coverage, and act as the functional quality expert bridging technical delivery and French accounting domain knowledge.

Meet the Team

You’ll join the French Accounting squad within Sage’s Barcelona engineering hub, working alongside developers, product owners, and a business analysts. The team follows agile delivery practices and is responsible for building and maintaining our desktop accounting software for the French market, including compliance with French legal and regulatory requirements.

Snapshot of Your Day-to-Day

You’ll spend your day designing and executing test cases for our French desktop accounting product, working closely with developers and the product owner to resolve issues and improve quality. You’ll participate in squad ceremonies, provide updates on defects and test progress, and validate that new features meet both technical requirements and real-world French accounting needs.

You’ll also document risks and issues, maintain test artefacts, and use AI-powered tools to boost test coverage and efficiency. On an ongoing basis, you’ll identify automation opportunities and contribute to growing the squad’s automation coverage.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in functional or product testing within a software environment

• Proven ability to own the full QA cycle independently - from test planning and design through to execution, defect reporting, and continuous improvement

• Strong knowledge of testing methodologies: exploratory, regression, risk-based, usability, and security testing

• Excellent analytical mindset, with the ability to understand and challenge complex business processes

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a positive, proactive approach

• Fluency in French - able to communicate effectively with French-speaking stakeholders and understand French customer workflows

Nice to Have

• Experience with or knowledge of accounting, payroll, or financial management software

• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and the ability to contribute to automation scripts

• Experience using AI tools for test case generation, exploratory testing support, or results analysis

• Knowledge of tools such as Jira or TestRail

• Understanding of French legal and regulatory requirements for accounting software
