Job Title: Systems Engineer (Contract)
Overview
We are seeking a junior to mid-level Systems Engineer to support a large-scale clinical IT deployment project. This is a hands-on, field-based role involving Windows 11 rollouts, hardware upgrades, and storage migrations across multiple clinic locations.
This is an initial 3-month contract with strong potential to transition into a permanent position.
Key Details
- Start Date: April 20, 2026 (potential earlier start April 13)
- Contract Length: 3 months (with extension/permanent opportunity)
- Day Rate: £300–£400 (up to £400 approved)
- Location: Manchester/Stockport base with regular travel to clinic sites
- Working Pattern: 5 days per week
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and configure Windows 11 across clinic environments
- Perform PC refreshes (approx. 30 devices per clinic)
- Execute data transfers and storage upgrades involving QNAP devices
- Provide on-site IT support during clinic operations and shutdown periods
- Work independently in field environments, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical activities
- Maintain professional conduct in participant-facing healthcare settings
Project Work
- Nationwide rollout across clinic locations including:
- Manchester (Spectrum Way, Stockport)
- Newcastle
- Reading
- Bristol
- PC replacements conducted during planned clinic shutdowns (3-day windows)
- Storage migration work performed during live operational hours, requiring discretion and care
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience as a junior to mid-level Systems Engineer or similar role
- Proven field engineering experience, comfortable working independently
- Strong knowledge of:
- Windows OS deployment (Windows 10/11)
- Hardware installation and troubleshooting
- Exposure to network storage solutions (QNAP preferred)
- Ability to handle physical tasks (lifting equipment, working under desks)
- Excellent communication and professionalism in client-facing environments
Travel Requirements
- Willingness to travel regularly across the UK
- Occasional overnight stays required (expenses covered)
- Mileage reimbursed (45p per mile)
- Must have access to a car (some sites not easily accessible via public transport)
Working Environment
- Flexible office access in Stockport (desk booking system)
- Combination of:
- On-site clinic work
- Occasional office-based tasks
