JOB DESCRIPTION

Build trust in data that powers business-critical decisions and advanced analytics. Drive clear documentation, strong data quality, and effective protection standards across key applications. Partner across product, analytics, and technology teams to enable faster innovation while reducing data risk.

As an Data Owner Vice President within the Center for Economic Intelligence, you will support the firm's agenda of enabling faster business innovation through data by ensuring that data is clearly documented, of good quality, and well-protected. 

In this role, you will be responsible for all data that is created, provisioned, or consumed in one or more business applications, and which may support business objectives, advanced analytics, operations, and reporting functions. You will serve as a subject matter expert to help define and classify data critical to the business area.  

You will also collaborate with technology and business partners to ensure that data is delivered in a manner consistent with the quality and safety requirements of the business. In support of these functions, you will be responsible for executing processes and procedures that identify, monitor, and mitigate data risks throughout the data life cycle in compliance with Firmwide policies and standards.  

Job responsibilities:  

  • Support the design, development and delivery of data products aligned to strategic business objectives and analytics use cases. 
  • Work with key partners across products and analytics functions to identify and document critical data scope, meaning, and purpose, ensuring proper metadata classification. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert with stakeholders to drive a strong understanding of the data and its use across lines of business and functions.  
  • Document requirements for data content and quality, coordinating with technology and business partners to deliver on those requirements. 
  • Develop processes and procedures within the product management lifecycle to identify, monitor, and mitigate data risks, including risks related to data protection, retention and destruction, storage, use, and quality. 
  • Partner with technology and business resources to resolve data issues in a timely and consistent manner. 

Required Qualifications, capabilities, and skills:  

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of related experience  
  • Technical knowledge of data management and governance, big data platforms, data architecture, and modern data tools (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, SQL, AWS, Teradata) 
  • Knowledge of ETL principles, data structures, and cloud-based technologies (e.g., S3, Glue, Athena) 
  • Proficiency in data query and analytical programming languages, as well as enterprise-grade languages (e.g., Python), data modeling (ERWin), and engineering tools 
  • Experience with risk and control requirements  
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong business acumen and strategic thinking  

Preferred qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree  
  • Product lifecycle or area product management experience 
  • Experience architecting and optimizing transactional and analytical data systems. 
  • Knowledge of data serialization formats (e.g., JSON, Avro,), big-data storage formats (e.g., Parquet, Iceberg), data processing methodologies (batch, micro-batching, stream), and data modeling techniques (Dimensional, Data Vault, Kimball, Inmon)
