Waters is currently seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer to work in our Engineering Infrastructure team to enhance our adoption of Cloud infrastructure, maintaining monitoring and alerting tooling, and maintain continuous delivery pipelines.

Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect, design, document and implement quality solutions   
  • Work independently and as part of a team with deep focus on hard technical problems and explain the why, how, and what, that makes your solution technically sound, provide constructive feedback regarding best practices, performance, and maintainability   
  • Lead epic refinement meetings to ensure stories are understood and decomposed adequately 
  • Stay ahead of the curve with respect to new technologies and techniques with an eye towards continual improvement of both the team’s skill set and the product goals    
  • Lead and drive the design and maintain a “one-click” deployment pipeline using a combination of Terraform and Spinnaker on Kubernetes. 
  • Lead the design of secure, scalable, operationally robust infrastructure (primarily on AWS). 
  • Continuously improve and refine the build and deployment process. 
  • Develop and improve our monitoring and observability tooling. 
  • Assist in the maintenance of the development, staging and production environments and deployments. 
  • Empower and enable your delivery teammates by helping them help themselves. 
  • Support production platforms and assisting in incident support.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or other related discipline or equivalent work experience required  
  • 2+ years of recent experience with modern CI/CD solutions  
  • 8+ year’s experience in a software organization. 

Preferred Experience 

  • Expertise with AWS cloud technologies 
  • Expertise with containerization technology, such as Docker 
  • Expertise with container orchestration technologies, such as Kubernetes. 
  • Expertise with infrastructure configuration management and orchestration tools, especially Terraform. 
  • Expertise with CI/CD platforms / tools, e.g. GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps etc. 
  • Experience with metric driven monitoring and alerting systems. 
  • Proficiency in at least one statically or dynamically compiled programming language. Preference with one or more of the following: Python, C#, Groovy, Go  
  • Experience of leading and mentoring other developers.
