If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are seeking a GenAI Platform Lead

The Group AI Platform team in HSBC’s CTO builds shared AI foundations, models, infrastructure, an Agent HUB, reusable capabilities, and built-in controls so teams can deliver AI faster, safely, and at scale. We’re a growing global team across Asia and Europe, partnering across the Bank to turn AI into reliable, repeatable services with measurable value

In this fantastic role, you’ll help build HSBC’s shared GenAI Agent “paved road”, the foundations that let teams across regions deliver AI faster and more safely. You’ll sit at the centre of AI enablement, turning emerging agent capabilities into reliable, reusable platform services with real business impact across the bank.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role, you will:

  • Define and deliver the GenAI Agent platform end-to-end, partnering with cross-functional stakeholders from discovery through production rollout for priority banking services
  • Architect core platform capabilities using agent orchestration (supervisors/super agents), workflows, tool/function integration, memory/state management, skill registry, and reusable patterns
  • Drive adoption at scale by referencing implementations, onboarding pathways, developer enablement (APIs/SDKs, templates, documentation) and governance for safe repeatable delivery
  • Own performance management. This includes success metrics/SLOs, observability (logs/metrics/traces), evaluations, and continuous tuning for reliability, accuracy, latency, and cost
  • Run delivery governance and execution by managing scope, risks, dependencies, milestones, removing blockers, and advising senior leadership with clear trade-offs (value/risk/cost)

To be successful in this role you should have the following skills:

  • Strong software engineering background with hands-on coding in Python with Java or Golang
  • Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP with the ability to deploy and operate production services (Docker/Kubernetes preferred)
  • Strong experience in building and shipping LLM/GenAI apps, agentic workflows, multi-agent patterns, tool/function calling, RAG, search, vector databases and integration patterns (e.g., MCP/tool calling).
  • Ability to solve complex problems and work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Display an “AI-native mindset” (e.g., using coding assistants to improve productivity/quality).

Being open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve. At HSBC, we’re dedicated to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces - no matter their gender, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic background or age. We are committed to removing barriers and ensuring careers at HSBC are inclusive and accessible for everyone to be at their best. We take pride in being a Disability Confident Leader and will offer an interview to people with disabilities, long term conditions or neurodivergent candidates who meet the minimum criteria for the role.
