JOB DESCRIPTION

If you are excited about shaping the future of technology and driving significant business impact in financial services, we are looking for people just like you. Join our team and help us develop game-changing, high-quality solutions.

As a Senior Lead Architect at JPMorganChase in Corporate Technology, you’ll shape how our platforms are designed and built—from early concepts through production. You’ll set clear architecture direction, help teams deliver resilient systems, and turn complex technical tradeoffs into practical plans that improve reliability, speed, and long-term maintainability.

Job responsibilities

  • Define target and transitional architectures and set practical guardrails for resiliency across application, data, and integration layers
  • Lead solution design from concept to production, creating ADRs, HLDs, and LLDs that align to enterprise reference architectures and controls
  • Run or contribute to design councils, perform architecture/design reviews, and manage exceptions and technical risk with clear remediation plans
  • Guide implementation details (service boundaries, API contracts, data models, error handling, idempotency, failure modes, back-pressure)
  • Ensure designs include HA/DR, observability (logs/metrics/traces), and capacity/performance considerations, and are ready for chaos and DR testing
  • Embed resiliency NFRs (RTO/RPO, SLO/SLI, MTTR) into designs and influence testing strategies (failure injection, DR tests, automated runbooks)
  • Identify and drive automation opportunities (anomaly detection, incident triage, playbook automation, self-healing) and define AI/ML integration patterns within security, privacy, and model risk guardrails

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience

  • Back-end experience with Java/Spring, REST, Python, messaging, caching
  • Front-end experience with React, micro-frontends (MFEs), and performance/error boundary patterns
  • Experience with data platforms: relational databases (e.g., Oracle, Cockroach), graph databases (e.g., Neo4J, TigerGraph), and data lake implementations
  • Proven ability to produce HLDs/LLDs and enforce architecture through reviews, patterns, and standards
  • Hands-on knowledge of resiliency patterns (circuit breakers, bulkheads, retries with jitter, timeouts, idempotency, saga/compensation, blue-green/canary, multi-AZ/region, active-active/active-passive DR)
  • Strong observability and reliability practices (metrics/SLIs/SLOs, tracing, log correlation, error budgets, chaos testing, incident postmortems)
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containerization/orchestration, and secure SDLC practices

  • Experience using AI/ML tooling to improve productivity, including GenAI/agentic capabilities in architecture work
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience using AI/ML for operations automation such as anomaly/outlier detection, predictive capacity, root-cause hints, and agentic runbook execution
  • Familiarity with Python or Scala for data/ML use cases, including model operationalization and responsible-AI guardrails
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional engineering, product, and operations partners
  • Knowledge of cloud data platforms and hybrid architectures, including data governance and lineage
  • Experience building for financial services, regulated environments, or other mission-critical systems
  • Certifications such as TOGAF, cloud certifications, or SRE certifications
