We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, Auditor to join our Credit Risk Internal Audit team. This role is located in New York, NY.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Participating in risk-based audits aligned to Internal Audit policies, methodologies, and standards to identify significant issues, risks, and control gaps.
  • Serving as the subject matter expert (SME) for credit-risk audits and regulatory issue validations; advising risk assessment, scoping, execution, and reporting. Coverage includes wholesale lending, counterparty credit risk, and intraday credit risk generated by BNY’s global businesses.
  • Assessing the control environment against regulatory requirements and leading practices; proposing and driving practical remediation strategies.
  • Partnering with Audit Leadership to align audit plans with existing and emerging risks within the business strategy.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders to deliver audit engagements; communicating progress, findings, and remediation status through closure.
  • Recommending enhancements to processes, controls, and risk management, including root-cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.
  • Utilizing AI-based solutions to increase efficiency and expand coverage.
  • Demonstrating leadership through guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing with peers and business partners (role has no direct reports).

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related discipline (e.g., computer science, mathematics).
  • 3–5 years of relevant credit experience, including audit or credit-risk/credit-services domains.
  • Advanced credentials preferred (e.g., FRM, CFA), whether in progress or completed.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret quantitative outputs and translate insights into audit conclusions and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, stakeholder management, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience drafting high-quality audit issues (clear articulation, impact, root cause, and action plans) and driving remediation to closure.
  • Familiarity with data-enabled audit testing and continuous auditing concepts (e.g., basic SQL/Python/visualization) is a plus.
  • Embrace in‑office collaboration four days per week to strengthen teamwork, accelerate decision‑making, and enhance stakeholder engagement through regular in‑person planning, reviews, and mentorship

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $69,000 and $160,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.


This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
