Salary: Up to £58,000 depending on skills and experience + bonus scheme

Role description:

This role leads complex business and technical workstreams to enable organisational transformation, acting as a proactive agent of change. You will collaborate inclusively with diverse stakeholders, including senior leaders, applying structured methodologies to initiate, plan, deliver, and transition enterprise-wide change effectively.

You will manage IM&T projects up to £7 million, translating strategy into clear delivery plans while balancing scope, time, cost, and quality. The role involves overseeing risks, guiding decision-making, leading governance reviews, contributing to the digital portfolio, and promoting best practice standards across project management activities.

Core duties:

• Defining and overseeing delivery strategy and governance across the Naval Ships Digital portfolio, ensuring consistent, high-quality project outcomes
• Building inclusive partnerships with business and technical stakeholders, aligning scope, objectives, requirements, and solutions within agreed constraints
• Providing supportive leadership and mentoring to project managers, promoting collaboration, accountability, and timely, well-controlled delivery
• Leading planning activities, including estimation, scheduling, and creation of robust project plans with clear assumptions and financial baselines
• Managing financial governance, including business cases, budgets, forecasting, and variance analysis, working closely with finance partners
• Leading lifecycle governance and continuous improvement, ensuring high-quality documentation, transparency, and adherence to organisational standards

Essential skills:

• Holder of APM PMQ or equivalent professional project management qualification or relevant experience
• Proven experience leading high‑value projects and performing at an advanced level of competency in line with the PM Competency Framework
• Experience working within large organisations, ideally within IM&T, Engineering or Manufacturing environments
• Strong understanding of the business environment, combined with extensive expertise in project management tools, techniques, and best practices to drive effective delivery.
• Proven ability to deliver enterprise-wide change initiatives, managing multiple complex projects concurrently while enabling new capabilities and improving existing systems
