AI-Driven QA Transformation Lead

We’re looking for a senior AI and Quality Engineering expert to lead the transformation of the QA function for Génération Expert, Sage’s French accounting platform serving a large and demanding community of chartered accountants. This is a complex, highly regulated product operating at the intersection of tax law, accounting standards, and professional practice: quality isn’t just a technical concern here, it is a business-critical one.

This is a founding, senior individual contributor role. There are no direct reports: your impact will come from your expertise, your ability to influence across Product, Engineering, and QA teams, and your capacity to introduce and embed AI-driven quality practices at scale. You will define the strategy, propose the tooling, and lead the execution, bringing your own point of view on what modern QA looks like and what it can become when AI is applied intelligently.

A key dimension of this role is your ability to work fluently in both French and English. Génération Expert is a French-language product, and you will collaborate daily with French-speaking Product, QA, and domain expert teams. Spanish fluency is a plus given the Barcelona base.

This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in our Barcelona office.

First 90 Days

• 30 Days: Immerse yourself in Génération Expert: its architecture, regulatory complexity, release cadence, and the current state of QA practices. Build relationships with Product Owners, developers, QA engineers, and domain experts. Audit the existing test coverage, tooling, and manual testing burden. Form a clear picture of where the highest risks and the biggest opportunities lie.

• 60 Days: Present your initial QA transformation roadmap: proposed tooling, automation strategy, AI use cases, and a prioritised plan for reducing manual test effort. Begin delivering quick wins – whether through targeted automation, improved CI/CD integration, or risk-based test prioritisation. Start building the frameworks and reusable practices that the wider team will adopt.

• 90 Days: Drive active delivery of the transformation. AI-assisted test generation and anomaly detection are in motion. Quality metrics are defined, visible, and being tracked. The QA team is upskilling on new practices and tooling. You are the recognised expert on AI-driven quality within the Génération Expert organisation, and your roadmap has clear sponsorship and momentum.

Meet the Team

You will be embedded within the Génération Expert product organisation, working across QA, Product, and Engineering teams. Génération Expert is one of Sage’s most established French products, with a large installed base of accounting professionals and a product evolution agenda driven by regulatory change and AI capabilities.

This is a cross-functional, influence-led role, you will have no direct reports, but you will be expected to bring the QA function with you on the transformation journey: coaching engineers, shaping practices, and building the case for change through results. You will be the internal AI quality expert for the product, with the autonomy to define what that means in practice.

How Success Will Be Measured

• Measurable reduction in manual testing effort and time-to-release across Génération Expert delivery cycles

• Adoption of AI-driven testing practices: test generation, regression detection, anomaly analysis within the QA function

• Improvement in key quality indicators: test coverage, post-release defect rates, regression confidence

• Quality integrated earlier in the development cycle, shift-left practices embedded in team workflows

• Reusable QA frameworks and automation tooling actively used by the broader engineering team

• Positive feedback from Product, Engineering, and QA stakeholders on the pace and impact of the transformation

Skills You’ll Gain

• Pioneering experience applying AI agents and generative AI to quality engineering in a complex, regulated product environment

• Deep expertise leading QA transformation end-to-end, from strategy through tooling selection to team adoption

• Influence and change leadership experience in a large, cross-functional product organisation

• Hands-on knowledge of quality engineering in a French regulatory and accounting software context

• A track record of building scalable, automation-first QA practices from the ground up

Qualifications

• Proven senior experience in quality engineering, test automation, or QA leadership within complex software products

• Deep expertise in AI applied to software quality: test generation, exploratory testing, regression detection, anomaly analysis, or AI agent orchestration for QA purposes

• Experience designing and implementing test automation strategies from scratch, including end-to-end, integration, and non-regression testing

• Strong knowledge of CI/CD integration for quality pipelines; comfortable proposing and owning tooling choices

• Experience with risk-based testing approaches and quality metrics frameworks

• A track record of driving change and upskilling teams – without necessarily holding line management responsibility

• Ability to work in fast-moving, regulated product environments where release quality carries significant business and compliance weight

• Fluency in both French and English is essential, you will operate across both languages daily

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to influence without authority across Engineering, Product, and QA
