Our Team, the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) Regional team, is constantly engineering, developing and integrating new capabilities for the U.S. Missile Defense System. Protecting both the United States and its allies. This large, fast paced team, is composed of many small agile teams working together dynamic environment with a common mission to develop and deploy leading-edge missile defense technologies.
The Regional Applications Systems Software Engineer is to act as the primary software technical liaison between Regional Applications (RA) cross functional product teams, and Systems Engineering and Verification, Integration and Test RMAs, for system engineering-related efforts.
The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating the systems and software design efforts for the C2BMC Battle Manager / Sensor Resource Manager Agile cross-functional product team.
Typical Responsibilities include:
1. Lead and support system-level design activities for the software subsystem, including behaviors, data flows, and interfaces
2. Perform technical analysis to evaluate design approaches, identify risks, and support integrated decision making
3. Translate system requirements to logical software architectures, algorithmic approaches, and software design
4. Support integration efforts with other software product teams
5. Conduct trade studies and design evaluations
6. Develop and maintain technical documentation
7. Support software verification activities
This role is best suited for either
- A systems engineer with strong technical depth in software development
- A software engineer with strong technical depth in systems engineering
Basic qualifications for the position include
1. Must possess Secret clearance
2. Demonstrated experience in applying system engineering principles to design and analysis of complex software systems
3. Demonstrated experience in decomposing requirements into practical, effective design solutions
4. Demonstrated experience in producing systems and software design artifacts
5. Demonstrated experience in strong, independent problem solving skills
6. Must be familiar with software development and software design, and show ability to evaluate software implementations
Desired skill for the position include
1. Familiarity with engineering and collaboration tools such as Git, Jira, Confluence, etc
2. Strong background in system design, architecture, or performance analysis
3. Experience with algorithm design and development
4. Experience with system integration and interface development
5. Experience with performing formal and informal trade studies
6. Experience working on an Agile cross functional team
7. Experience in Missile Defense Domain solutions
8. Specific experience in Missile Defense Sensor systems
9. Specific experience in technical areas or battle management, sensor management, engagement planning, track processing, or other fire control concepts
This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
