CGI delivers secure, mission-critical systems that power the UK’s most vital sectors, helping safeguard national interests while driving innovation and transformation.

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a central role in designing, deploying, and supporting complex platforms across hybrid environments, combining on-premises and cloud infrastructure. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise in Kubernetes, automation, and cloud-native technologies to deliver systems that are critical to national operations, while working in a culture that values creativity, ownership, and collaboration.

CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2025 and has been named a UK ‘Best Employer’ by the Financial Times.

We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching), which makes you a CGI Partner rather than just an employee.

We are committed to inclusivity, building a genuinely diverse community of tech talent and encouraging careers in our sector, including within the Armed Forces. We are also proud to hold a Gold Award in recognition of our support of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant.

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to obtain it.

This role is available in Gloucester and London.

Your Future Duties and Responsibilities

Your work will directly support critical national security systems, where reliability, compliance, and innovation are essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design & Deploy: Build and manage infrastructure across on-premises and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Innovate & Automate: Implement Kubernetes-based platforms, containerisation, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
  • Secure & Govern: Apply infrastructure security, compliance, and governance best practices
  • Troubleshoot & Resolve: Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues
  • Monitor & Optimise: Use observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK
  • Collaborate & Deliver: Work across agile teams and stakeholder groups to drive continuous improvement

Required Qualifications to Be Successful in This Role

You should have at least three years’ experience in infrastructure engineering with a strong track record across hybrid and cloud environments.

You will bring strong technical capability alongside effective communication and collaboration skills.

Required experience:

  • Designing, building, deploying, testing, and supporting infrastructure solutions
  • Working across on-premises and cloud environments (AWS preferred, Azure/GCP desirable)
  • Kubernetes architecture (pods, services, deployments, networking) and Docker containerisation
  • Platform engineering and CNCF ecosystem familiarity
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
  • GitOps tooling such as Argo CD
  • Scripting (Python or Shell)
  • Container orchestration tools (e.g., Docker Swarm, Apache Mesos)
  • Service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd)
  • Monitoring and observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
  • Infrastructure security, compliance, and governance practices
  • Working in agile teams with version control (Git)
