We are building a small research-focused engineering team to explore new technologies and help shape the future direction of our software platform. As an Application Specialist Engineer, you will work across existing applications, proof-of-concept development and integration work, with opportunities to explore areas such as AI and agentic integrations. This role includes front-end and back-end engineering. Angular will be used in the role, but we are open to candidates whose front-end experience comes from other modern frameworks. The role spans both on-premise and cloud-connected software, so cloud experience is beneficial but not essential.

  • Develop and maintain applications using C# and .NET across back-end services and user-facing software.
  • Contribute to a mix of existing application work, technical investigations and proof-of-concept development.
  • Build and enhance front-end applications, with Angular used in the role.
  • Explore AI integration options, including likely work on MCP clients and servers, with support from the wider team.
  • Work across multiple repositories and build an understanding of existing codebases over time.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects and product stakeholders to deliver practical, high-quality software.
  • Write clean, maintainable code and automated tests.
  • Support software running in on-premise environments and, where needed, cloud-connected solutions.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5-6 Years Experience building applications using C# and .NET.
  • Front-end development skills are required. Experience with Angular is welcome, but we are open to candidates with strong experience in other modern front-end frameworks.
  • Able to work effectively across existing codebases and learn new technologies with support where needed.
  • Good software engineering practices, including testing, code review and maintainable design.
  • Experience contributing to application development in Agile or iterative teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a flexible, hands-on approach.

Desirable (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with AI integrations, developer tooling, or emerging technology exploration.
  • Familiarity with MCP client/server concepts or an interest in learning in this area.
  • Experience with both on-premise software and cloud-based systems.
  • Exposure to APIs, CI/CD pipelines, containerisation, or modern development tooling.
