Linux Infrastructure Engineer (SC Clearance)

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This position will be based on site near Gloucester 5 days a week.
Your future duties and responsibilities
In this role, you will architect, deploy and maintain secure Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance and scalability across complex environments. You will take ownership of infrastructure automation, containerised platforms and system optimisation, supporting both project delivery and operational excellence.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to building resilient systems, improving deployment pipelines and driving continuous improvement. You will bring innovative thinking to infrastructure challenges while being supported by a collaborative and expert-led environment.
• Design & Deploy Linux-based infrastructure across enterprise environments
• Automate & Optimise systems using configuration management and scripting
• Orchestrate & Manage containerised platforms using Kubernetes
• Build & Maintain infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines
• Manage & Enhance storage solutions, backup and disaster recovery processes
• Monitor & Improve system performance, reliability and scalability
• Collaborate & Deliver with cross-functional teams to support mission-critical systems
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
You should have strong experience managing Linux infrastructure within enterprise or secure environments, with a focus on automation, scalability and reliability. A solid understanding of containerisation and infrastructure-as-code practices is essential.
• You should have strong experience with Linux distributions such as Red Hat or Rocky Linux
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g. Python, Bash, Ansible)
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD practices
• Experience managing storage solutions and backup/recovery processes
• Strong troubleshooting and system optimisation skills
• Familiarity with data tools such as NiFi (desirable)
• Experience working in secure or regulated environments (advantageous)
