About the role

You’ll play a hands-on role in the design, development and validation of new acquisition and existing customer scorecards, supporting BT’s move towards more sophisticated, customer-level risk assessment.

 

This includes preparing and analysing datasets with credit reference agencies to ensure robust modelling foundations, and developing and testing credit policy rules that support responsible lending and align with risk appetite. Working closely with data and systems teams, you’ll support implementation through testing and issue resolution to ensure models perform accurately in production, while also helping to build and automate monitoring frameworks to track performance over time.

 

This is a high-profile, strategically critical programme, offering the opportunity to shape how BT makes credit decisions, improve consistency and fairness, and strengthen long-term growth—ideal for an experienced credit risk modeller looking to make a meaningful impact in a visible, cross-functional transformation

What you’ll be doing

• Performing data extracts for credit reference agencies to return analytical retros for scorecard development


• Acting as a team member building and validating a suite of acquisition and existing customer level risk scorecards


• Analysing suitable policy rules to embed alongside the developed scorecards


• Supporting scorecard implementation and testing within BT systems, liaising with our systems team


• Preparing monitoring packs for ongoing testing of scorecard stability, accuracy and discrimination


• Providing insight regarding associated open banking developments


• Assisting with documentation in line with FCA requirements for regulated products

Essential Skills / Experience

• Experience building and validating multiple risk scorecards across acquisition and existing customer bases


• Experience developing policy rules within a credit risk function


• Proficient in SAS for modelling and MI automation, and Excel for visual analytics

Desirable Skills / Experience

• Strong expertise incorporating Credit Reference Agency data within analytics


• Experienced in recommending and testing scorecard implementations within credit risk decision systems


• Knowledge of Open Banking and PSD2
