Support the People Director in partnering with the People, Corporate Affairs, Responsible Business and Finance functions (c.300 colleagues), helping to shape and deliver a high-impact people agenda. Drive the execution of people plans aligned to strategic business priorities, while coaching, challenging and supporting leaders to build high-performing, inclusive teams. Champion best practice across talent and succession planning, learning and development, engagement and recognition, and organisational design. Provide proactive, hands-on support across the employee lifecycle, ensuring a seamless and high-quality people experience.

  • Support the People Director to drive the people and culture agenda
  • Key focuses include Talent planning and review cycle, engagement drivers and embedding best practise HR basics
  • Partner and coach leaders in using the tools and processes available to recruit, retain and develop their teams and create a high performing and inclusive culture based on trust
  • Support leaders to deliver people and ways of working change effectively, including initiatives to improve business performance and organisational change
  • Using trends, metrics & KPIs, continuously scan the function to identify and engage stakeholders in opportunities for improvement including optimising structure and organisational design
  • Work with leaders and their teams to identify future talent and coach leaders on strategies for nurturing talent, clarify career paths, manage colleague aspirations and clear succession planning
  • Champion a culture of listening, sharing learning and inclusion so that colleagues can heard and perform at their best
  • Providing operational support to the People Director across the functions (e.g. recruitment activity, talent planning, mid and year-end calibration cycles, Peakon activity etc.)
  • Partnering with the TA (recruitment) team, Capability (learning and development) and Rewards team to ensure collaborative and seamless ways of working
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a degree of ambiguity
  • Experience of “getting things done” in a large and complex organisation
  • Proactively in engaging with stakeholders and ability to adapt messages to the audience and meet business needs
  • Self-starter with a "can do" attitude
  • Demonstrates curiosity and brings in different ways of thinking
  • Ready to roll sleeves up and get stuck in at all levels, including some operational and administrative tasks as well as projects and task forces
  • Excellent stakeholder management/influence and the ability to easily engage and challenge colleagues at all levels particularly people managers
  • Intellectually and commercially astute with the ability to build credible, high-trust relationships quickly at all levels of the organisation.
  • Coaching style; experience in supporting leaders to self-serve and find solutions and apply sound judgement
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to share a message to varying audiences and communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate changing priorities and adapt accordingly, taking a pragmatic approach
  • Understand “what good looks like” for the key HR pillars of Talent, Learning and Development, Employee Relations and People Engagement
  • Understanding of and ability to establish strong foundational basics across the Employee Lifecycle
