Role Overview
This is a leadership opportunity for an experienced engineer to execute the technical vision and drive delivery excellence for the VMO2 Care platforms, we are seeking a senior engineer with strong technical and leadership skills.
As the Platform Tech Lead, you operate at the critical intersection of delivery and governance. You sit closest to delivery, ensuring that all partner-led work across frontend, backend, and cloud platforms align with defined standards, architectural guardrails, and engineering best practices. This is where strategy meets execution - where the platform’s vision becomes reality through consistent, high-quality delivery.
You are accountable for platform integrity, quality, and maintainability through delivery oversight, vendor collaboration, and technical assurance - not through owning platform strategy or taking on direct coding responsibility. Your success is measured by your ability to guide, influence, and elevate vendor delivery while maintaining the platform’s technical standards and long-term vision.
Required Skills, Experience and Responsibilities
Execution Alignment & Delivery Assurance
You're the guardian of platform quality. Every vendor deliverable passes through your lens - architecture, design, implementation patterns, all of it. You review deeply, spot misalignment early, and course-correct before technical debt becomes a crisis. You're not a rubber stamp; you're the technical safeguard that keeps the platform healthy and the critical link that makes governance real.
Shape how your platform gets built: review High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs), challenge architectural approaches, and guide implementation patterns that align with platform principles. You're the trusted voice ensuring every technical decision serves the platform's vision.
Enforce platform integrity: ensure all deliverables meet your architecture standards, engineering guardrails, NFRs (performance, resilience, security), and quality expectations. Catch misalignment early - before it becomes technical debt or production issues.
Solve hard problems collaboratively: work with vendors to identify technical risks, resolve blockers, and find elegant solutions that balance speed with quality. You're the technical problem-solver who makes delivery happen without cutting corners.
Own production readiness and platform health: assure solutions are resilient, scalable, and operationally sound before they go live. You're accountable for ensuring every delivery maintains platform integrity and doesn't create future firefighting.
Make decisive technical trade-offs: navigate the tension between innovation and stability, speed and quality, vendor autonomy and platform consistency. You have the technical judgement to know when to push back and when to ship.
Technology & Engineering Domain Mastery
Be the full-stack technical authority for your platform - from UI to cloud infrastructure. Master the complete technology landscape and guide vendors across all layers. Your technical depth means you catch issues others miss, and vendors trust your guidance on architecture decisions.
Required technical experience across:
Frontend: Next.js, component-driven architecture, CMS integration (e.g., Storyblok), UI/UX patterns, frontend performance
Backend: Node.js, APIs, microservices, event-driven patterns, service scalability, resilience patterns
Cloud: GCP (GKE, Cloud Run), containerisation, distributed systems, cloud-native deployment practices
Platform Tooling: CI/CD pipelines, observability (logging, monitoring), performance tooling, environment management
Standards Applied in Execution
Don’t write standards - enforce them where it matters: in the code vendor’s ship. Take the platform standards defined and make them stick in delivery. When you encounter a vendor struggling with a standard, you provide the support to get them aligned.
API standards and integration patterns
CI/CD and environment management discipline
Testing, quality, and release practices
Monitoring and observability expectations
Strategic Vendor Technical Leadership
Be the trusted technical voice vendors listen to and respect. You’re their primary guide on architecture decisions, engineering practices, and platform expectations. When vendors propose an approach that misses the mark, you challenge it thoughtfully - not to block, but to elevate. You build strong relationships with vendors where they trust your guidance and value your technical insight. Your influence drives better delivery quality, faster execution, and consistency across the entire vendor ecosystem. You've mastered the art of leading without direct control - a rare and valuable skill.
Misaligned architectural designs and implementation approaches
Poor engineering practices and quality shortcuts
Inconsistent implementations across the vendor ecosystem
Platform Custodian
Protect your platform’s long-term health and integrity. You’re accountable for ensuring consistency across frontend and backend layers, preventing architectural drift, and maintaining reliability and performance. You spot when a quick fix today will become tomorrow’s nightmare and act accordingly. The platform’s future health depends on your vigilance today.
Platform maintainability and consistency across all layers
Reliability and performance standards
Code quality, automation, system observability, and platform reliability improvements
