Job Title: Senior Technical Author

Location:  Weymouth or Filton.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You will be responsible for identifying source document from document management systems
  • You will be carrying out Impact Assessments against the engineering source data to create a Data Management Requirement Lists
  • You will be creating and updating Technical Description and Operating Information Data Modules in xml (mark-up language) to an ASD S1000D 4.1 specification
  • You will be responsible for authoring and managing DMs in the EAGLE Publishing System (EPS) Common Source Database (CSDB) using the EPS XML editor software
  • You will be producing graphic mark-ups for the production of illustrations to support DMs
  • You will quality check DM outputs to ensure compliance with the project and industry specifications
  • You will be liaising with Principal Engineers to resolve technical/formatting issues

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • You will require a HNC/HND or equivalent experience within a relevant engineering discipline
  • You will need to be proficient in Technical Authoring DMs in XML/SGML to ASD S1000D standards
  • You will require good knowledge and an understanding of an IETP/IETM
  • You will need to have gained experience of handling documents and be proficient in the discipline of configuration control
  • You will require prior experience within a technical documentation or support engineering discipline
  • You will be able to bring prior knowledge and an understanding of a CSDB (data vault)

The Dreadnought Technical Documentation Team:

You will join a large support engineering team on the Dreadnought SSBN submarine, gaining broad knowledge across the platform. You will engage with key stakeholders, develop Technical Documentation skills and produce outputs that support operation and maintenance. This role will offer an exciting and stable career path. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
