Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and hands-on Lab Infrastructure & Operations Technician to manage engineering lab infrastructure, hardware assets, machine provisioning, and inventory operations. The candidate will act as a lab owner, ensuring engineering teams have the required hardware, test systems, and machine configurations to support development and validation activities.

The role requires a combination of IT support, hardware management, lab administration, and coordination with engineering teams for machine setup, maintenance, and infrastructure changes.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  1. Lab Administration & Ownership

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for engineering lab operations.

    • Maintain overall lab health, organization, and operational readiness.

    • Ensure test benches, development systems, and lab equipment remain functional and available.

    • Coordinate lab infrastructure changes and equipment relocations.

  2. Hardware & Procurement Management
    • Work with procurement teams to identify, order, and track hardware requirements.

    • Manage hardware including: 

      • National Instruments (NI) Modules

      • PXI/PXIe Chassis and Controllers

      • Engineering Workstations

      • Test Equipment

      • Network Devices and Peripherals

    • Coordinate with vendors for quotations, procurement, repair, and replacement processes.

  3. Asset & Inventory Management
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and asset tracking databases.

    • Track asset allocation, ownership, utilization, and availability.

    • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliation activities.

    • Manage hardware lifecycle from acquisition to retirement.

  4. Machine Provisioning & Maintenance
    • Configure, deploy, and maintain engineering and test machines.

    • Perform machine imaging, reimaging, OS installation, and recovery activities.

    • Install and maintain software tools, drivers, and engineering applications.

    • Troubleshoot hardware and software-related issues.

  5. Engineering & Developer Support
    • Support developers and validation teams with machine setup and hardware requirements.

    • Assist with workstation upgrades and hardware modifications.

    • Support connectivity changes, hardware integration, and test setup requirements.

    • Coordinate and execute machine replacement and upgrade activities.

  6. Infrastructure Support
    • Assist with network connectivity changes and cable management.

    • Support rack installations and hardware setup activities.

    • Maintain documentation related to lab infrastructure and system configurations.

  7. Documentation & Process Improvement
    • Create and maintain SOPs, asset records, and operational documentation.

    • Drive improvements in inventory control and lab management processes.

    • Ensure accurate documentation of hardware configurations and asset movements

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Diploma (NTTF) in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field; or B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Instrumentation, or a related discipline; or BCA or B.Sc. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting engineering labs, hardware assets, IT infrastructure, or technical operations environments.
  • Knowledge of hardware inventory management and asset lifecycle processes.
  • Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating system installation, imaging, reimaging, and recovery processes.
  • Understanding of engineering lab administration and operational support activities.
  • Ability to coordinate with vendors, procurement teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and connectivity concepts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and asset management tools.
    Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and customer service skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Experience working with National Instruments (NI) hardware and related test environments.
  • Familiarity with PXI and PXIe systems.
  • Experience supporting engineering development, validation, or test laboratories.
  • Basic PowerShell scripting knowledge.
  • Understanding of development and test infrastructure environments.
  • Experience managing hardware procurement, inventory audits, and asset tracking systems.
  • Exposure to workstation deployment, hardware upgrades, and lab infrastructure project
