We are seeking a System Engineer Sr. to join our team in Owego, NY, supporting the full product lifecycle of avionics subsystems. You will play a key role in translating customer requirements into technical solutions, defining software/hardware interfaces, verifying requirements, and integrating safety-critical systems. This role supports the design and certification of embedded mission software for use in modern defense platforms.

The Work

As a System Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the development of system requirements for avionics subsystems. You’ll collaborate across engineering disciplines to support verification and testing activities. You'll participate in team planning and meet your commitments to help the team deliver on technical performance, schedule, and cost.

Key Responsibilities:

-Perform systems engineering efforts on mission systems programs
-Developing systems, software, and subsystem requirements
-Defining external and internal interfaces
-Creating and/or reviewing algorithms
-Developing a traceability matrix of subsystem requirements
-Allocating requirements to various engineering disciplines
-Developing technical solutions to complex problems
-Collaborate with cross-functional teams on software/hardware interfaces-Support documentation, error correction, and performance validation
-Creating test plans, test procedures, and reports
-Executing integration, verification, and validation tests

This role is based in Owego, NY
U.S. Citizenship required
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret-level clearance

You are a results-driven engineering professional with experience in system design for embedded systems. You enjoy working in a team environment, solving technical problems, and delivering reliable, high-quality systems for real-world applications. You bring an understanding of system integration, avionic system lifecycle processes, and are passionate about mission success.

Basic Qualifications :

•Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.

• Experience developing system software requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level.

• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) – Preferably CAMEO

Desired skills :
• Advanced degree preferred
• Experience with user interface design
• Human-computer interaction development experience
• DOD customer experience
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Knowledge of system design, requirements definition, and documentation
• Familiarity of aviation mission system operations, avionics, sensors, and armament systems
• Experience working on cross-functional teams (Hardware, Software, Integration/Test)
• Experience building strong customer relationships
• Current active Secret security clearance
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, but work independently on assigned work
