Cloud Principal Engineer Lab and Data Management

In Waters, the Informatics group produces software that is used by people worldwide for specialist measurement and scientific analysis. We are currently seeking a Cloud Principl Engineer to work in one of our Cloud Development teams. Role specific:

• Lead User Story refinement meetings to ensure stories are understood and decomposed adequately
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect, design, document and implement quality solutions and as part of a team with deep focus on hard technical problems and explain the why, how, and what, that makes your solution technically sound, provide constructive feedback regarding best practices, performance, and maintainability 
• Stay ahead of the curve with respect to new technologies and techniques with an eye towards continual improvement of both the team’s skill set and the product goals 
• To act as technical expert for coding, process and best practices (e.g. adherence to Definition of Done) and effectively communicate this to the team
• Collaborate across teams to improve working practices and skill levels
• To carry out all responsibilities in accordance with the Quality Policy and all applicable procedures
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of all aspects of the applications and services owned by the team.

Qualifications/Education required:

1.     Bachelor’s degree or higher (or equivalent) in science, computing engineering subjects.  

Experience required: Minimum 12 Years in Cloud and Software Development

1.       Extensive knowledge and proven experience as a software developer, with exposure to elements of the back-end technology stack (C#, .NET).

2.       Front-End JavaScript Frameworks, especially Angular

3.       Good experience working with Amazon Web Services, Microservices, API development

Aptitude/skills required:

1.     Knowledge and application of software engineering practices (e.g. Unit testing, TDD, CI/CD, SOLID, BDD etc.).

2.     Proven ability to lead design and development of complex features

3.     Proven ability to work as part of an Agile delivery team.

4.     Ability to analyse and solve problems.

5.     Excellent communication and team working skills.

Desirable

1. Continuous delivery, with pipelines implemented in Spinnaker, Kubernetes, Docker, TerraForm
2. Experience implementing Data Dog - ability to create monitors, alerts and dashboards.
3. Experience using GitHub and GitHub Actions
4. Behavior Driven Development (BDD), with Gherkin & SpecFlow
5. Atlassian Jira, Confluence
6. Software security best practices and implementation (e.g. OWASP, PKI, X509 Certificates, TLS)
7. Software development for regulated environments (e.g. 21CFR11)

Authorities:

1. Can perform development tasks under an appropriate level of guidance.
2. Can review and electronically sign documents as required by development processes.
