Vanguard’s Family Legacy team works in partnership with other business lines to serve Vanguards Wealth Management high net worth clients of $5 million or more. Vanguard’s Family Legacy team focuses on helping families communicate their wealth purpose and wishes, educating beneficiaries on how to be good stewards of the wealth and preparing family members for future roles and responsibilities.

Vanguard, Wealth Management, Family Legacy Specialist

Vanguard’s Family Legacy team works in partnership with other business lines to serve Vanguards Wealth Management high net worth clients of $5 million or more.

Vanguard’s Family Legacy team focuses on helping families communicate their wealth purpose and wishes, educating beneficiaries on how to be good stewards of the wealth and preparing family members for future roles and responsibilities.

Degrees and subject matter expertise

  • Demonstrated expertise in disciplines including family systems theory, family psychology, family education, family business frameworks, behavioral finance, financial therapy, leadership theories, or related fields.
  • Degrees such as master’s in psychology, Family Communication and/or Conflict Management Certification, or Family Enterprise Certification are preferred.

Facilitation and client relationship experience

  • Experienced practitioner in consulting, coaching, and/or advising families of wealth, family businesses, and or family offices – 5+ years.
  • Experience in client facilitation in one-to-one and group conversations.
  • Experience in facilitating financial, business, wealth planning, and succession planning conversations in the family and or planning context.
  • Experience in adult training, leadership frameworks, process consultation, and coaching models
  • Demonstrated success in facilitating and teaching larger groups and applying new content to generate individual and family change outcomes.

Project management

  • Demonstrated success in leading small-scale projects in the effort to develop family legacy marketing material and family legacy program development.

Communication

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience communicating regularly with UHNW clients
  • Superior presentation skills to individuals, families, and larger groups for conference-scale events and workshops
  • Ability to create educational resources and thought leadership with subject matter expertise

Goals

  • To facilitate family conversations and deepen the advisor’s relationship in the family wealth system, including increased engagement with spouses and next generation family members.
  • To focus on the client’s family and wealth transitions with a commitment to the client’s longer-term financial well-being and the firm’s generational relationship through time.
  • To extend and deepen the firms' relationships in high net worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) families through a more systemic and conversational approach to planning.
  • To be part of a team that offers a differentiating family engagement capability to the firm, including providing one-to-one and one-to-many coaching, creating a replicable family meeting and engagement process, and presenting at client events client events.
  • To build your own subject matter expertise capabilities to extend and evolve our family legacy offer content and be a co-creation partner with business partners in the larger organization.

Expected tasks

  • Experience in co-leading projects and co-creating facilitation and learning approaches to meet shared outcomes and objectives.
  • Sophisticated thinking and facilitation skills for communicating complex concepts to get change in the family system.
  • Understanding of business priorities, competitive environments, and how your work translates into wealth planning and business outcomes.
  • Proven ability to drive initiatives and coordinate effectively across a highly matrixed organization with peers and senior leaders.
  • Experience in co-leading projects and co-creating facilitation and learning approaches to meet shared outcomes and objectives.
  • Experience in developing content, training programs, pedagogical design, and facilitation strategies with adaptability
  • Travel expected approximately once every other month.
  • This role is one working in a hybrid model which blends the best of both on site and remote working. This role requires crew members to work from home on Monday and Friday and to work onsite at a Vanguard office Tuesday through Thursday.
