Description

Join Heathrow's Airside Engineering team and play a vital role in keeping one of the world's busiest airports moving. You'll maintain and optimise critical airside assets through planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring essential systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently around the clock. Alongside maintenance activities, you'll contribute to engineering projects, asset renewals, and continuous improvement initiatives, working with a highly skilled team dedicated to operational excellence.

Salary: starting from £46,345 – £49,584 (depending on experience), with structured progression linked to technical competency development.

Shift allowance: £6,624 
Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off (2 days and 2 nights, 12-hour shifts).

Responsibilities

  • Help deliver an exceptional customer experience by maintaining and optimising Heathrow's critical airside assets, including floodlighting towers, Fixed Electrical Ground Power (FEGP), Stand Entry Guidance Systems (SEGS), and Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL). 
  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities to ensure assets operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. 
  • Diagnose faults, investigate performance issues, and implement effective solutions to improve asset reliability and operational performance. 
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and asset histories to support compliance, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement. 
  • Promote a strong safety culture by identifying hazards, managing risks, and ensuring safe systems of work are followed at all times. 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, sharing best practice and supporting the ongoing enhancement of engineering standards and operational excellence.

Qualifications

You must hold a recognised NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) multi-skilled engineering qualification with both practical and technical competency, or a recognised indentured apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline.

Accepted qualifications include:

  • Engineering Maintenance (Electrical and Mechanical pathways)
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Electromechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronic Engineering
  • Controls Engineering
  • Electrical Installation (including AM2)

Please note: Standalone qualifications such as BTECs, HNCs, HNDs, or degrees are not considered equivalent to a practically assessed NVQ Level 3 qualification and can only be accepted when supported by a relevant NVQ.

You will also have:

  • Full UK driving licence including the ability to obtain and maintain airside licences and permits. 
  • Strong hands-on experience, gained within an engineering environment. 
  • Analytical thinking and sound problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to prioritise in a complex and fast-paced setting.
