Job Summary

Responsible for validating product quality by analyzing and testing the quality of the codebase. Makes decisions affecting architecture of the test codebase including which software to use for writing test code. Focuses on writing code that will be executed in an automated and repeatable fashion which will reduce manual testing efforts and increase code quality and consistency. Develops and maintains code that validates front-end, middleware and database systems, using the latest tools and common programming languages. Provides input into various software development lifecycle stages. Partners with software engineers to write efficient automation code using coding standards and best practices. Executes automated code and creates comprehensive execution reports for team. Repairs complex broken automation scripts and performs peer reviews of automation codebase. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Usually determines own work priorities. Acts as resource and mentor for colleagues with less experience.

Core Responsibilities

• Strong previous background working in telecommunications   industry. 

• Experience in a test and integration environment 

• Experience and knowledge working with the Nokia IMS, Ribbon C20 and Nokia Telco Cloud platform architecture and interworking principles in order to support associated services 

• You should have good communication skills to work with other areas of the business 

• Knowledgeable in voice switch translation and UK & ROI dial plans 

• Knowledgeable in voice protocols, including SIP, H248 and Diameter 

• Experience of server operating systems, IP and in the use of Wireshark. 

• Excellent ability to work in a pressured real-time environment.   

• Analytical mind-set and approach to problem solving, network changes 
   

  Essential. 

  Knowledge of Class 5 TDM switch architecture; with experience on Ribbon and Huawei switches desirable 

  Knowledge of VoIP and Softswitch architectures preferable. 

  Candidates should have a detailed knowledge of some of the following protocols and signalling systems as well as other standards associated with telephony switching in the UK such as SIP, C7, MGCP, H.248 and Diameter 

  Knowledge of UK numbering plans and  UK switched telephone network in general 

  Capability to document information in a clear and precise manner for Implementation, testing and Operational teams 

  Understand all elements of the IMS and C20 

  Be able to datafill all elements of the IMS and C20 

  Understand key pieces of test equipment such as Wireshark 

  Be able to datafill interconnects on the IMS and C20 

  Experience in scripting and databases
