We're looking for a QA Engineer to join our Sage HCM Localisation engineering team in Barcelona. You'll play a hands-on role in ensuring the quality of a large, established enterprise HR and payroll platform - working across manual testing, automation, defect investigation, and close collaboration with developers, product owners, solution designers, and fellow QA engineers.

This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in our Barcelona office.

First 90 Days

• 30 Days: Get to know the Sage HCM product, its architecture, and the QA processes already in place. Understand the team's testing tools, test management practices, and Agile ceremonies. Begin contributing to test case execution and defect investigation on active sprints.

• 60 Days: Take ownership of test coverage for your assigned areas. Design and execute test cases for new features and regression scenarios, contribute to automated regression suites, and collaborate actively with developers on defect resolution. Participate fully in sprint planning and release preparation.

• 90 Days: Work independently across functional, regression, integration, API, and exploratory testing. Contribute improvements to test data, documentation, and regression coverage. Be a reliable voice on quality risks within the team, and support colleagues in raising the overall bar on release confidence.

Meet the Team

You'll join a cross-functional Localisation engineering team working on Sage HCM — a complex enterprise product covering HR, payroll, and compliance workflows. The team includes developers, solution designers, product owners, and QA engineers, operating in a distributed Agile environment.

Your line manager will be within the QA or Engineering leadership for Sage HCM. You'll work closely with QA colleagues across the team to share practices, improve coverage, and ensure consistency in how quality is approached across the product.

How Success Will Be Measured

• Quality and thoroughness of test cases designed and executed across your areas

• Speed and clarity of defect identification, documentation, and resolution support

• Contribution to automated regression suites and overall regression confidence

• Active participation in Agile ceremonies and sprint delivery

• Collaboration and knowledge-sharing with QA and engineering colleagues

Snapshot of Your Day-to-Day

• You'll work across the full testing lifecycle - analysing requirements and acceptance criteria to define test coverage, designing and executing test cases, raising and tracking defects with clear evidence, and supporting developers as they investigate and fix issues. You'll contribute to automated regression suites and help keep them reliable as the product evolves.

• No two sprints are identical: one week you might be deep in exploratory testing for a new payroll feature, the next you're validating API behaviour for a compliance change or reviewing test data gaps with a colleague. You'll be methodical, curious, and a dependable team member in a fast-moving delivery environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of QA experience in software product delivery, covering both manual testing and automation

• Good understanding of test analysis, test case design, regression testing, defect lifecycle, and Agile delivery practices

• Hands-on experience with test management and issue tracking tools such as Jira, TestRail, or similar

• Experience with automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or comparable tooling

• Familiarity with API testing concepts and tools, with the ability to validate data and service behaviour

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work methodically through complex workflows and edge cases

• Clear communication skills - able to explain quality risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Self-driven and organised, comfortable working in a distributed Agile team

• Fluency in English
