What this role is all about:

As a Data Analyst within the VitalityLife Actuarial team, this role plays a key part in supporting data-driven choices made through the analysis of actuarial experience, profitability drivers, trends and capital requirements. Working alongside Actuarial, Data Science, Business Intelligence and Data Engineering teams, the position focuses on developing and enhancing analytical models, data processes and insights that help deliver scalable solutions and drive commercial value across the business.

Key Actions

  • Support the ownership, maintenance and continuous development of actuarial data assets, including feature engineering processes and experience analysis models used across the Life business
  • Analyse lapse, claims, retention and business mix experience to identify trends, monitor performance and provide insights that support strategic decision making
  • Design, build, test and document new data processes and analytical solutions in support of product launches, regulatory changes and business initiatives
  • Maintain, enhance and optimise existing actuarial models and data workflows, ensuring outputs remain accurate, reliable and fit for purpose
  • Develop scalable analytical solutions using R, Python and SQL to improve data accessibility, modelling capability and operational efficiency
  • Work collaboratively with Actuarial, Data Science, Business Intelligence and Data Engineering teams to deliver high-quality data products and business insights
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, improve governance and enhance processes across the Actuarial function through automation and continuous improvement
  • Support the delivery of actuarial and business projects by supporting analysis, testing, implementation activities and subject matter expertise
  • Prepare and communicate critical findings to stakeholders, translating complex data into clear and actionable recommendations
  • Support audit and compliance requirements by maintaining documentation, evidencing controls and responding to internal and external stakeholder queries

What do you need to thrive?

  • Strong experience analysing complex datasets and translating findings into meaningful business insights
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as R, Python and SQL
  • Ability to build, maintain and enhance analytical models within a regulated or data-driven environment
  • Strong understanding of data quality, governance and control frameworks with a focus on accuracy and reliability
  • Experience developing data processes, reporting solutions and scalable analytical outputs for business stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong problem-solving capability with a proactive approach to identifying improvements and delivering practical solutions
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a fast-paced and evolving business environment
  • Collaborative approach with experience working across multidisciplinary teams to deliver shared objectives
  • Degree-level qualification in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Engineering or Computer Science
