At Barclays you will build the next-gen AI ready time-series analytics system that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure. As a AI Data Engineer, You will Implement AI‑ready data access patterns, enforcing entitlement decisions prior to data exposure to AI, LLM, and agentic workflows in line with firm governance and will be responsible for Design and maintain MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations per data source, including entitlement‑aware context construction and integration of metadata, lineage, and usage signals.
To be successful in this role you should possess:
Strong understanding of LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, and context engineering.
Knowledge of MCP (Model Context Protocol) design and integration patterns.
Ability to build AI-ready retrieval pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
Understanding prompt/context construction, grounding, and output control.
Data modeling, schema design, transformation, and orchestration.
Experience with APIs, event-driven integration, batch, and streaming pipelines.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
Strong hands-on experience in data engineering and data pipelines with expertise in structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
Deep understanding of role-based and policy-based access control with strong knowledge of metadata management.
Experience with data lineage, provenance, ownership, classification, and freshness tracking building scalable, resilient, production-grade integrations.
Knowledge of latency, performance optimization, resiliency, and cost management.
Familiarity with cloud and platform ecosystems such as AWS / Azure / GCP.
