DXC Technology is looking for a Data Cabling Engineer to join our team in Yeovil, supporting
a secure and important client environment.
Working onsite you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, fault finding and
remedial works associated with structured cabling and containment across the site and
wider MOD estate.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cabling professional looking to work in a
secure, technically demanding environment supporting critical infrastructure.
Due to the nature of the client environment, eligibility for security clearance is required for
this role. To meet the current security requirements, candidates must be sole UK nationals
and have lived and worked continuously in the UK for the past five years. Unfortunately,
we are unable to consider dual nationals for this position.
Key Responsibilities
As a Data Cabling Engineer, you will be responsible for:
 Installing, terminating and testing Cat6/Cat6A copper cabling.
 Installing, terminating and testing single-mode and multimode fibre optic cabling,
both internally and externally.
 Installing a range of cable containment systems, including:
o Cable basket and tray
o Metal and plastic trunking
o Conduit
 Installing wireless access points and networking hardware.
 Working from cabling drawings, patching schedules, risk assessments and method
statements.
 Carrying out structured cabling fault investigation, diagnostics and repair.
 Undertaking remedial cabling works where required.
 Using Fluke Versiv copper and fibre test equipment to carry out testing and
certification.
 Working in accordance with all company and customer Health & Safety policies and
procedures.
 Supporting works across the Yeovil site and wider MOD estate.
 Undertaking some out-of-hours work, with occasional overnight stays potentially
required.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
 Experience in data/structured cabling.
 Good knowledge of JSP 604 cabling practices.
 SSSTC certification.

 Valid ECS or CSCS card.
 CNCI or City & Guilds cabling qualification.
 IPAF 3a/3b certification.
 PASMA certification.
 Asbestos Awareness.
 A full and valid UK driving licence.
 Experience using Fluke Versiv copper and fibre testing equipment.
 Experience working from technical drawings and cabling documentation.
 Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
 A professional approach with a strong focus on quality, safety and customer service.
