Description

The Verisk Government Relations Department is looking for a highly motivated candidate for a Federal Affairs Analyst position.

The position involves experience with legislative and regulatory monitoring. This position is remote in the D.C. area.

Responsibilities

•    Handles Verisk’s legislative and regulatory monitoring of federal activities, including gathering information from legislative and regulatory information services, Capitol Hill staff, industry lobbyists, and other relevant sources.
•    Analyze legislation and regulations for impact on Verisk operations and work with Verisk staff, insurer trade associations and other industry interests, to achieve modification and/or compliance. Includes interface with industry trade groups by exchanging information and providing technical analysis and testimony for use by industry lobbyists to assist them with their efforts.
•    Work with Verisk staff to respond to newly enacted statutory and regulatory changes. Support corporate goal of timely and consistent response to mandated changes.
•    Use and integrate generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools into workflow and explore how GenAI can improve processes and increase efficiency.
•    Research and prepare technical material (status reports, white papers, issues documents, etc.) for senior management and to assist trade associations in matters germane to Verisk.
•    Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

•    Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
•    At least 2 - 4 years’ experience in either P&C insurance (with technical insurance background) or Government Relations work (with appropriate analytical skills).
•    Research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
•    Willing and eager to learn about and apply skills in new industries.
•    Interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with internal staff and external stakeholders.
•    Ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously.
•    Knowledge of GenAI and proficiency in using GenAI. 
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
•    Completion of at least 4 CPCU exams (or CPCU designation) a plus.
