1.2 Role Summary
As Senior Geospatial Consultant you will help UK Government and public sector organisations make better use of geospatial data to support policy, operational delivery and transformation programmes.
The role combines consultancy, stakeholder engagement, business analysis, data governance and geospatial technology expertise. Working across discovery, design and implementation activities, the Senior Geospatial Consultant identifies business needs, develops practical solutions and supports successful delivery outcomes.
The successful candidate will be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, business users and delivery teams, while also working closely with architects, data engineers, Geo and GIS specialists and software developers. They will be able to translate business requirements into practical geospatial and data solutions and provide trusted advice throughout the delivery lifecycle.
The role may involve supporting strategy development, data governance initiatives, geospatial platform implementation, information management improvements and enterprise geospatial transformation programmes.
1.3 Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Consultancy and Advisory
· Engage with stakeholders across government departments, agencies, and arm's-length bodies.
· Facilitate workshops, discovery activities, and requirements gathering sessions.
· Translate business challenges into geospatial and data-focused solutions.
· Develop business cases, roadmaps, operating models, and implementation plans.
· Provide independent advice on geospatial strategy, data governance, and information management.
· Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
· Support programme and project delivery through governance, assurance, and stakeholder management activities.
Technical Delivery
· Design and implement geospatial data management solutions.
· Support geospatial system procurement, architecture, integration, and migration activities.
· Define metadata, data quality, and information management approaches.
· Develop and review data models, integration specifications, and technical designs.
· Support implementation of GIS platforms, data services, APIs, and cloud-based geospatial solutions.
· Conduct geospatial data analysis, transformation, and quality assessment.
· Provide expertise in spatial databases, standards, and interoperability.

Geospatial Technologies. Experience in Industry Standard Tools e.g.
· ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Pro.
· QGIS.
· FME.
· GeoServer or equivalent spatial service platforms.
· Spatial APIs and Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards.
Data Management - Understand Geospatial Data Management techniques e.g.
· Geospatial metadata standards (ISO 19115).
· Data quality management and data profiling.
· Master and reference data management.
· Data governance frameworks.
· Open standards and interoperability.
Databases & Integration e.g.
· Spatial databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial
· ETL and integration design.
· REST APIs, XML, JSON, and GeoJSON.
· Data migration and transformation.
· Cloud-hosted environments.
· Containerisation and modern deployment approaches.
Desirable Skills:
· DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, or equivalent data governance certifications.
· Chartered Geographer, RICS, or equivalent professional accreditation.

1.5 Travel
The role is offered on a hybrid basis where the successful candidate is expected to spend 1-2 days a week (dependent on home location) in our office base in Horsham, West Sussex and is likely to spend an additional 1-2 days a week in client sites.
1.6 Security Clearance
As a minimum you must be eligible to hold or obtain a SC but ideally you will hold or be able to obtain a DV.
