Commercial Analytics Manager - BPL

As a Commercial Analytics Manager within the Data & Analytics team, you’ll play a key role in shaping Barclaycard Payments’ commercial strategy. You’ll design and combine effective data-driven insight and models with strong commercial acumen to support decision-making that drives growth, profitability, customer acquisition, retention, and overall business performance. Working closely with stakeholders across Product, Finance, Sales, Commercial, and Analytics teams, you’ll help develop and refine strategies that ensure the business remains competitive in a dynamic payments market.

You’ll be responsible for the creation, development, and maintenance of commercial performance models and reporting frameworks, using deep analysis of customer behaviour, transaction trends, sales performance, market dynamics, and competitor activity to generate actionable insights. You’ll shape and lead a team of analysts, experimenting with the latest modelling techniques and cloud capabilities, developing agent based and automated performance reviews of key commercial initiatives, campaigns, and growth programmes, monitoring outcomes and identifying opportunities for optimisation. With strong stakeholder engagement skills, you’ll also oversee governance activities relating to commercial reporting, analytics methodologies, and performance measurement, ensuring outputs are robust, well-controlled, and clearly documented.

Barclays’ payments acceptance business provides critical infrastructure to the UK economy, processing billions of pounds of payments annually for both small businesses and domestic and international corporate clients.

In April 2025, we announced a long-term partnership with Brookfield Asset Management to grow and transform the payments acceptance business by broadening the range of services offered, enhancing the experience for both existing and prospective clients. Leveraging extensive client relationships and deep experience of UK payments, we will create an environment of continuous innovation - activated by Brookfield’s global private equity expertise in payments, technology, operational transformation and corporate carve-outs - to ensure the business is strategically positioned for long-term growth.

Barclays will invest approximately £400m in the new business, the majority of which will be incurred during the first three years. Performance-linked incentives will drive greater alignment between the partners, underpinning the long-term commitment to the transformation. Barclays and Brookfield will work to create a standalone entity over time, continuing to use the Barclaycard Payments (BPL) brand and acting as the sole payments acceptance services provider to Barclays’ clients for a minimum of ten years.

To be successful as a Commercial Analytics Manager, you must have the following essential skills:

• Degree in a relevant analytical discipline, such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Data Science, Computer Science or a related field
• Experience working with large and complex unstructured data, including proficiency in tools such as SQL, Python, and Cloud tooling to support data analysis and modelling
• Experience developing data visualisations and delivering commercial insights, with the ability to influence decision-making through clear, data-driven recommendations and stakeholder engagement
• Lead and develop a high performing team of data analysts and scientists

• Identification and extraction of relevant data from various internal and external sources.
• Performing sensitivity analysis and scenario planning.
• Monitoring and evaluation of the performance of existing models.
• Development and implementation of data quality control procedures.
• Building and validation of quantitative models to support decision-making across different business areas.
