Software Engineer, Enlivio Health (formerly EMIS)
📍 London, Leeds, Bradford or Stretford (Manchester) | 💷 £43,000 – £72,000 depending on experience

About Enlivio Health
You may know them as EMIS. Enlivio Health builds the clinical software that runs a large share of UK healthcare. EMIS Web is the electronic patient record used by more than half of GP practices in the UK, and the wider portfolio covers community pharmacy, hospitals, prescribing and population health analytics.

Enlivio is now an independent business again, following its carve-out from UnitedHealth Group, and it’s in a new phase: a new name, faster decision-making and a clear aim to modernise how clinicians and patients use health data. It’s a good moment to join. The company has the scale and the NHS footprint of an established provider, and it’s also rebuilding and innovating at pace, with products like EMIS-X.

The role
You’ll work in a cross-functional scrum team alongside product owners and scrum masters, building and maintaining software used every day by GPs, pharmacists and hospital teams. The code you ship will directly affect how patient care is delivered.

What you’ll be doing

  • Writing clean, well-tested backend and frontend code
  • Turning user and clinical requirements into technical specifications and working features
  • Designing and improving automated testing frameworks so releases stay safe and reliable
  • Working closely with product to shape what gets built and why

Tech stack
Python, TypeScript, SQL, and AWS cloud infrastructure

What we’re looking for

  • Commercial experience with Python and/or TypeScript
  • Confidence working with SQL and relational data
  • Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms
  • A testing-first mindset; experience building or extending automated test suites is a strong plus
  • Interest in work with real-world impact (healthcare experience is welcome but not required)

Why join

  • Your work reaches millions of patients through the NHS
  • A rare chance to help shape a company as it redefines itself
  • Engineering hubs across the UK, so you can work close to home
