At Barclays, you will help shape and improve our digital platforms, driving innovation across Fraud Technology. Our teams deliver advanced fraud solutions for Barclays UK and Barclays International. As a Data Engineer, you will work across build and run activities to keep our fraud data platforms stable, resilient, and improving. Your focus will be on reducing fraud risk while protecting customer access to products and services and building strong expertise in fraud detection across debit and credit cards, aligned to Lean and Agile ways of working.
To be successful in this role you should possess:
Hands-on experience building Java and ETL applications using Spring Boot and the Spring framework (e.g., Spring API, Spring Security, Spring Batch).
Experience with ETL and PySpark, including automation and production‑grade code delivery
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and OpenShift, Gitlab CICD
Experience with containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes, and DevOps tools like Jenkins, GitLab and Maven
At least 2+ years working in Agile teams, using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Ability to support build and run activities, including CI/CD, live issue resolution, defect fixes, enhancements, platform upgrades and vulnerability remediation.

Working knowledge of data ingestion pipelines and ETL processes
Ability to document code, APIs and workflows, with strong test coverage through unit and integration tests
Experience with automation‑first delivery in a DevOps environment
Strong ownership mindset, able to work independently in a POD, remove blockers and deliver outcomes consistently
