Description

As a Principal Platform Engineer on the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team, you’ll provide technical leadership for Tier-0, mission-critical identity services powering authentication and authorization at cloud scale. You’ll design highly available and reliable distributed systems, lead complex technical initiatives, and help build the next generation of identity infrastructure for AI and agentic ecosystems.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role with broad impact across architecture, engineering, and service operations.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong programming skills in Java, Go, C++, Python, or a similar language.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, fault tolerance, and high-availability architectures.
  • Significant experience designing and operating large-scale, mission-critical cloud services.
  • Strong experience with REST APIs, microservices, cloud architectures, CI/CD, and automated testing.
  • Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, application security, and secure software development.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex production systems and driving reliability and performance improvements.
  • Understanding of security and compliance requirements such as FedRAMP and PCI DSS.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems.
  • Experience operating Tier-0 or similarly critical services with stringent availability requirements.
  • Experience with OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with observability, SLOs, distributed tracing, and reliability engineering.
  • Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, SCIM, JWT, or related identity standards.
  • Experience with applied cryptography.
  • Familiarity with emerging identity models for AI agents, machine identities, delegation, and agentic systems.

  • Design and operate distributed services at high scale, addressing performance, capacity, resilience, and failure modes.
  • Define technical direction and lead complex initiatives spanning multiple services and teams.
  • Architect next-generation identity capabilities for AI agents, machine identities, services, and users.
  • Lead design reviews and make high-impact architectural decisions.
  • Diagnose complex production issues and drive systemic improvements that prevent recurrence.
  • Improve observability, automation, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and operational readiness.
  • Partner with Product Management, Security, and engineering teams to deliver durable technical solutions.
  • Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards through technical leadership, design, and code reviews.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $104,500 to $234,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
