What were the pivotal moments in your transition from the military to cyber, and how did ManTech support you during this shift?

My career at ManTech began in 2021 after six years as a US Army Sergeant and a decade as a high school teacher and coach. Transitioning into cybersecurity was a significant step, but ManTech made it seamless.

The military provided me with a strong foundation in cyber fundamentals, similar to a college-level introduction to computer science. ManTech took that foundation and built upon it. The classes I took as a soldier are now the ones I teach, creating a full-circle connection that inspires my work every day.

What drew me in was the advanced training ManTech offers. I fell in love with the field immediately and knew this was where I wanted to build my career, particularly in teaching and mentoring others.

What have been the highlights of collaborating with teams across the Air Force, Army, and base operations?

One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been the opportunity to work with teams across the Army, Air Force, Marines, and Navy.

During my time in the Army, I supported Air Force operations and got to see how different branches approach cyber development. These experiences allowed me to compare and contrast techniques, building a broader understanding of the field. ManTech’s programs foster this kind of collaboration, strengthening connections across branches and enhancing our collective efforts in cybersecurity.

Considering your journey at ManTech, what advice would you give to someone considering a career here?

For those considering a career in cybersecurity, my advice is simple: embrace the learning curve. Cyber is small, yet dynamic, and there’s plenty of room to grow.

The ACTP training pipeline has been instrumental in my journey, enabling me to not only develop tools but also give back by training the next generation of cyber professionals. Joining a company like ManTech allows you to explore multiple facets of the field, from operations and technology to instruction, all while making a meaningful impact in the cyber domain.

How has your role developed since you started in the cyber industry and how has Mantech facilitated your development?

Looking back, my journey from novice to Technical Director has been incredible.

I began with focused and immersive training, mastering diverse platforms. Over time, ManTech’s culture of continuous improvement helped me progress from an instructor to leading a team of instructors. This role allows me to guide others as they embark on their own career journeys.
