Lead Software Engineer - ServiceNow (Technology Solutions)

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Technology Solutions team, you will shape the technology solutions that drive strategic initiatives across the firm. You will partner with cross-functional teams to design, build, and optimize scalable platforms while guiding a team of engineers toward technical excellence. This role blends deep technical expertise with leadership, requiring you to balance hands-on engineering with mentorship, strategic thinking, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Job responsibilities

• Provide oversight and coaching to a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers working on basic to moderately complex tasks, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous growth
• Make decisions that influence team execution and the implementation of processes and procedures, ensuring alignment with firm-wide standards and delivery goals
• Collaborate with business analysis teams to produce estimates and agile delivery plans, engaging stakeholders to align on priorities and outcomes
• Identify and mitigate delivery risks across the book of work, escalating issues as necessary to maintain momentum and quality
• Design, code, test, and deliver software leveraging firm-wide frameworks and best practices for the ServiceNow platform
• Champion and enhance scrum practices to drive continuous improvement across team processes and delivery cadence
• Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team
• Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices
• Proven experience as a ServiceNow architect or team lead, with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Active ServiceNow certifications: Certified System Administrator (CSA), Certified Application Developer (CAD), and Certified Implementation Specialist – IT Service Management (CIS-ITSM)
• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices
• Deep knowledge of ServiceNow architecture, data and security models, and application framework, including integrations and authentication patterns
• Experience leading teams of technologists, driving strategic initiatives, and developing and mentoring talent

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Proficiency in ServiceNow performance optimization, including scripting, indexing, query tuning, and Performance Analytics
• Experience with resource allocation and project planning to deliver complex initiatives within defined timelines
• Familiarity with additional ServiceNow modules or certifications beyond CSA, CAD, and CIS-ITSM
• Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional collaboration across engineering, product, and business stakeholder teams
