What this role is all about:

We're looking for a Senior Finance Analyst to join the Finance team on a fixed-term basis, providing critical operational finance and management accounting support during a period of increased demand. This role will play a key part in maintaining the accuracy, control and timely delivery of financial reporting across multiple business areas. Working closely with Finance Business Partners, budget holders and Finance Operations teams, the role offers broad exposure across the business and the opportunity to influence financial performance through insightful analysis and strong stakeholder engagement.

Key Actions

  • Taking ownership of month-end accounting activities across multiple business areas, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial results and reporting
  • Leading detailed review and analysis of operating expenditure, identifying risks, trends and material variances to support effective financial decision-making
  • Driving strong financial control across assigned cost centres through robust governance, accurate accounting treatment and proactive challenge of expenditure
  • Acting as a trusted finance partner to budget holders and business stakeholders, providing insight, guidance and commercial support throughout reporting cycles
  • Managing complex accruals, prepayments and journal activity while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, policies and internal control requirements
  • Owning the preparation, reconciliation and resolution of intercompany recharge activity, maintaining accuracy, transparency and audit readiness at all times
  • Delivering high-quality balance sheet reconciliations, investigating outstanding items and ensuring financial records remain complete, controlled and supportable
  • Supporting forecasting, planning and budgeting activities through meaningful analysis, financial modelling and the validation of business assumptions
  • Collaborating closely with Finance Business Partners, Financial Control and Finance Systems teams to resolve issues, improve reporting quality and maintain operational continuity
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency, strengthen controls and improve the accuracy and usefulness of financial reporting

What do you need to thrive?

  • Previous experience in management accounting, expense management or finance business partnering environments
  • Strong knowledge of month-end accounting processes, financial controls and reporting requirements
  • Experience analysing financial performance, investigating variances and delivering actionable insights
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with confidence to support and challenge constructively
  • Strong analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manipulate and analyse financial data
  • Relevant accounting qualification such as CIMA, ACA or equivalent, or significant progress towards qualification
  • Experience working with financial systems and reporting tools
