Software Engineer,Associate

We are seeking a few entry level(1 to 2 years) Software Engineers to join our team at Birst India. Software Engineers at Birst build innovative solutions and high-quality products that are used by hundreds of thousands of users across the globe. You will be part of our talented team of engineers working across our Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Platform. We are looking for people who are gifted in variety of technology skills, intellectually curious and aggressive learners. We have opportunities in a wide range of areas including our patented core BI engine, cloud platform, data visualization, devops, quality, automation and performance. 

A Typical Day in the Life Includes:

• Work as part of cross functional, passionate agile development teams to ensure quality is driven into the heart of the development process from requirements definition through to delivery of highly concurrent systems
• Candidates should be Highly Motivated and a Self-Starter at work.
• Plan, develop, test, debug, and re-factor new and existing functionality.
• Gain deep domain knowledge in the field of business intelligence and data analytics 
• Analyze user requirements and convert requirements to codes.
• Develop, optimize and troubleshoot both front-end and back-end code.
• Proactively identify problems, system architecture definition, hardware and software specification and design,
• Works in a team using agile methodologies.
• Work with experienced team members to conduct root cause analysis of issues, review new and existing code and/or perform unit testing
• Serves as an integral member of a software development team.
• Develop highly scalable and high-performance applications.
• Collaborate across teams including subject matter experts to deliver high-quality products.
• Possess up-to-date knowledge of technological developments in the industry.
• Stay up to date on current software development trends and practices.
• Ability to learn fast and execute accordingly.
• Bring interpersonal and technical skills to engagements

AI and Generative AI Skills

• Basic understanding of Generative AI, Large Language Models, prompt engineering, model limitations, and responsible AI usage.
• Familiarity with using AI-assisted development tools for code generation, debugging, refactoring, unit-test creation, documentation, and codebase or architecture understanding.
• Ability to review, test, and validate AI-generated outputs for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Basic understanding of commonly used AI models and the ability to select a suitable model based on the use case, quality, latency, cost, privacy, and security requirements.
• Ability to create a basic, supervised AI-assisted workflow or agent using prompts, APIs, application context, and tools.
• Basic understanding of integrating, evaluating, and monitoring AI-enabled applications, including logging, tracing, response quality, latency, usage, failures, and human review.
• Awareness of responsible AI practices, including data privacy, protection of proprietary information, hallucination management, prompt-injection risks, secure output handling, and human oversight.
• Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to continuously learn emerging AI technologies

Basic Qualifications:

• BE/ME/MCA in Computer Science or related fields
• Strong applied experience. You have built, broken and rebuilt many applications, examined a lot of open-source code to gain understanding of how real-world software is built and delivered
• Strong foundation in Object Oriented Programming principles, data structures, algorithms and SQL
• Working experience with one or more of: Java core, .Net/C#, JavaScript and related frameworks, HTML/CSS, Relational databases
• Basic knowledge of building and consuming SOAP and REST services
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Must work from office 5 days a week
• Willingness to work in shifts
• Willingness to attend calls with US team during India night hours
