Salary: Up to £58,900 depending on skills and experience

Job Description:

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team developing and enhancing advanced maritime simulation software used for naval training, operational concept development, and system testing. You will play a key role in modelling complex battlespace environments and defence systems, enabling engineering teams to validate capabilities within safe, realistic scenarios. This role offers the opportunity to improve simulation performance, enhance operational readiness, reduce development risk, and accelerate delivery of critical capabilities using modern software engineering and simulation technologies.

Core duties:

  • You will design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions in line with project requirements
  • You will produce clear, well-structured, and maintainable software designs
  • You will deliver robust and reliable software solutions suitable for operational use
  • You will undertake testing activities to ensure software quality, performance, and compliance
  • You will maintain and enhance existing software, resolving defects and implementing new features

Essential Skills:

  • You will hold a degree (BEng/BSc) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related numerate discipline
  • You will have proven experience in at least one high-level programming language; C++, C#, Java, or Ada are highly desirable
  • You will have adequate experience across the full software development lifecycle, with knowledge of methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall
  • You will have a solid understanding of configuration management principles, with experience using configuration management tools
  • You will have knowledge of networking concepts, including switches and routers

The MIMESIS Team:

The MIMESIS Product Team develops advanced maritime battlespace simulation software, modelling environmental conditions, platform behaviour, and complex systems such as sonar, radar, and weapons. The team supports naval training, system validation, and capability development through realistic, high-fidelity simulation.
